CHRISTMAS BOMBING IN JOS: FOUR ARRESTED
The Plateau State Government has condemned the explosion attack on Mountain of Fire Ministries in Jos, north Central Nigeria on Christmas day, with
an assurance that perpetrators will be brought to book as some arrests have been made.
Special Adviser to Plateau state Governor Jonah Jang on Media and Publicity, Ayba Pam, while speaking to the press at the scene of the incident commended the swift response of security operatives.
He said the response prevented the attackers from causing even further damage and limited the casualty to one police officer that was shot by the attackers.
Apart from the police officer that died in the attack, three vehicles were damaged, while a portion of the church fence was also damaged, but no worshiper was injured in the explosion.
Dreaded Islamic sect who have claimed responsibility for the attacks had previously sent threat letters around the central city, warning of attacks in worship and social centers.
The threat prompted the Security Council to institute measures to prevent and safeguard residents from the looming attacks.
Just as worshipers were leaving the church after the Christmas Day service, however, pandemonium broke out when attackers descended upon security officers posted to the church.
A shootout ensued between the attackers and security agents and a police officer was reportedly killed in the attack. The attackers threw IEDs at the Church, destroying some of the fencing.
Spokesman of the Special Task Force assured that his men were now investigating the attacks, adding that four suspects are already in custody in connection to the attacks and will be charged after the holidays.
